Second train wreck reported in the area
PLAQUEMINE - A second train wreck has slowed traffic and forced emergency responders into action in our area Friday.
Witnesses told WBRZ News 2, a car and train collided in Iberville Parish near the National Guard complex. The train came to a stop near the crossing on Belleview Drive.
A man, reached by phone at a business across the street, said the car was hit about five blocks north, on Desorby Street.
"I can't see the car, but there is a lot of excitement around the tracks," the man said as he peered from his office window.
Authorities confirmed they are responding to a train collision but could not provide immediate details.
The crash is happening as crews in East Baton Rouge work to place a series of train cars back on the tracks after a derailment earlier in the day.
