Search continues for missing Northwestern State student at Grand Canyon
GRAND CANYON NATIONAL PARK - Authorities at Grand Canyon National Park continue to search for a missing Northwestern State University student.
They say 22-year-old Diana Zacarias, of Natchitoches, was reported missing Sunday by a family member. She is a Northwestern State University industrial engineering technology major and on the school's rowing team.
Zacarias took a shuttle to the South Rim on Saturday and was dropped off at the Maswick Lodge.
She's believed to have visited Yaki Point and Lookout Studio.
Park officials say the 5-foor-2 Zacarias was last seen wearing a pink hat, purple fleece jacket, black rimmed glasses and possibly carrying a small green backpack.
The National Park Service is currently conducting a search-and-rescue operation and a missing persons investigation also is ongoing.
