'Scooby-Doo' crew taught lesson about looking for kicks
GREENWELL SPRINGS - Central School System leaders said they identified a group of kids who were seen on security video in the abandoned Greenwell Springs Hospital in February.
The group illegally went inside the hospital and were seen walking around and exploring. The facility has been closed for about three years but has been a popular spot for illegal adventure seekers. The school district is in the process of obtaining the property and installed cameras to catch people who were looking for thrills.
Troublemakers have torched hospital outbuildings and have vandalized the building, painting profane language and swastikas on the walls.
The group seen on video in February was from Livingston Parish, Central Schools Superintendent Michael Faulk said. He said he believes they were dealt with and said since then there has been little trouble at the hospital site since people know cameras were installed.
Faulk added the district is hoping to obtain a deed to the property soon and plans to demolish the hospital in the next year. The property could eventually become a school.
