Saints rally for final road win of season, 23-20 over Bucs
The New Orleans Saints waited until nearly the last minute, but an offensive finish and a defensive flurry capped their final game of the 2014 season with a 23-20 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Saints quarterback Drew Brees connected with Marques Colston on a 36 yard touchdown strike with less than two minutes in the game to give the team their first lead of the day.
Then on Tampa Bays next possession, Bucs quarterback Josh McCown was backed up on his own goal line when defensive end Junior Gallette beat his man easily and sacked the opposing quarterback for a safety, his second of the season.
The Saints finish their year with a disappointing 7-9 record and are out of the playoff picture.
