COVINGTON - A 49-year-old Covington man was arrested for allegedly sexually abusing a child over a period of years while awaiting trial on charges related to child pornography.
According to the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office, Jackson "Rick" Miller was arrested on July 11 after parents of two girls, ages 8 and 9, reported to deputies that Miller took inappropriate pictures of their daughters.
One of the girls also described being sexually abused by Miller, according to the Sheriff's Office. The girl said the abuse has been going on for the past two years.
Miller was booked for two counts of indecent behavior with a juvenile and one count of first-degree rape.
According to WWL-TV, Miller was arrested for pornography involving a juvenile in 2010. Court records indicate that his felony trial date was set for Aug. 14 after 29 trial dates were delayed since that arrest, according to WWL-TV.
