Rapides man faces numerous charges in human trafficking case
ALEXANDRIA - The Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office says an Alexandria man is being held on charges of human trafficking.
In a news release the Sheriff's Office says the arrest followed allegations that 55-year-old Bobby Otis Augustine Jr. had physically abused juveniles in his care. That led to allegations that he had pushed both adults and juveniles into prostitution.
A search of his home Wednesday turned up firearms that investigators say he was not allowed to possess after earlier arrests.
Online records show Augustine remained in jail Friday facing charges of human trafficking, cruelty to juveniles and domestic abuse, with more charges pending. There was no record on when his next court appearance would be held or whether he has an attorney.
