Prisoner sues over jail food
STROUDSBURG, PENNSYLVANIA- An accused killer sued his jailers over his demands for a special diet. Rockne Newell contends the Monroe County jail is inflicting cruel and unusual punishment because his diet causes wild mood and energy swings and he'd be better off with kosher meals that Jewish prisoners get.
Newell is accused of killing three people at a city meeting. Police say he was upset after losing his property.
Newell's lawyer says his attempts to buy healthier options at the prison commissary were stymied by spending limits. Newell has said he regrets "innocent people got hurt" in the shooting two years ago.
