Police: Man drives to jail after shooting his wife
GULFPORT, Miss. - Authorities say a Mississippi man shot his wife during an argument outside of a medical clinic and then drove to jail to turn himself in.
The Sun Herald reports 47-year-old Jerome Verdell Jefferson is accused of shooting his wife while they were arguing outside of the Memorial Physicians Clinic on Monday afternoon.
Gulfport police Sgt. Josh Bromen says when officers arrived at the scene, they found the woman suffering from a gunshot wound. Bromen says the woman was flown to a hospital and is in serious condition.
After the shooting, authorities say Jefferson turned himself into the Harrison County Jail. He was arrested and charged with attempted murder.
It's unclear if Jefferson has a lawyer.
