Overnight road closure expected due to large fuel spill
BATON ROUGE - Firefighters were expected to remain on the scene of a leaking tanker truck well into Monday night and possibly into Tuesday morning.
Wyandotte Street near Scenic Highway closed around 8 p.m. Monday and will likely be closed into the early hours of Tuesday as a HAZMAT crew cleans up the mess.
About 2,000 gallons of gasoline spilled on the roadway when a 4-inch pipe was sheered off at the bottom of the tanker causing the leak. It was not immediately known what caused the mishap on the tanker.
