OLOL to add ER to LSU Urgent Care Center in north BR
BATON ROUGE – Our Lady of the Lake hospital has reached a deal to add an emergency room to the LSU Health North Urgent Care Center on Airline Highway.
The emergency room will be an extension of the hospital's main campus emergency room and will be staffed by emergency physicians 24/7 with a full service lab.
"For the past year we have been studying the needs and available access to services and now with the support of the State, the addition of an ER to the North Baton Rouge location will provide even greater access and complement the already successful urgent care center on Airline Highway," K. Scott Wester, Our Lady of the Lake president and CEO, said.
Since the Baton Rouge General hospital closed its Mid City emergency room, officials have been focused on the LSU Health North Urgent Car Center on Airline to enable it with the most comprehensive care available.
Officials say more than 100 patients a day are seen at the location.
"Housing an emergency department in the same location as an urgent care clinic could also reduce follow-up visits to the ER. Our top priority is preserving the good health of families in our community," Wester said.
