After injuries and a position change, LSU defensive back Dwayne Thomas is starting to fulfill his promise.

Thomas has emerged as the No. 10 Tigers' second-leading tackler through LSU's opening two games and snagged his first-career interception last Saturday night.

The 2012 recruit from one of New Orleans' power-house high school programs saw the early part of his career derailed by groin injuries, but now is starting to look more like the play-making force in the secondary LSU thought it was getting when he signed as a widely rated four-star recruit.

Thomas started his LSU career at cornerback but now rotates in at safety, a position he says feels more "natural."

His 12 tackles are already more than he had all of last season.

LSU hosts Louisiana-Monroe on Saturday night.
