New BREC footgolf courses
BATON ROUGE- This weekend BREC is unveiling a new way to get people out on its golf courses. Footgolf is quickly taking the country by storm, now you can play it right here in Baton Rouge. This morning BREC's director of golf, Mike Raby, stopped by 2une In to tell Kylie Dixon more about the new sport.
Footgolf is very similar to traditional golf but it's played with a soccer ball and your feet. Players take turns kicking the soccer ball toward a 21-inch "cup," that is in place of a usual golf hole. BREC is opening two new footgolf courses at their City and J.S. Clark golf courses.
The sport is a new concept to the capital region, and a fun outdoor activity that will keep players in shape. Compared to traditional golf, footgolf is quicker to play, more accessible to players, and doesn't require expensive equipment.
The green fees for footgolf are listed below.
You're encouraged to bring a soccer ball if you have one; otherwise BREC has some that can be provided for you to play. You can find out more information about BREC's golf and footgolf courses at the BREC golf website.
