Million Dollar Man: Kevin Steele's contract released and spring dates announced
BATON ROUGE - New LSU defensive coordinator Kevin Steele will make $1 million per year with performance-based incentives that could push that number to $1.125 million each of the next two years.
The contract breaks down into a $500,000 base salary with an additional $500,000 in "supplemental media compensation", and incentives that could total $125,000 annually.
Steele was previously the linebackers coach at Alabama and replaces John Chavis, who made $1.3 million last year.
Meanwhile, the Tigers have also announced key dates for their spring football schedule, including the National L-Club Spring Game on April 18.
The rest of the schedule is as follows:
March 7 - First Day of Spring Practice
March 19-20 - LSU Coaches Clinic
March 27 - Pro Day
April 16 - LSU Student Appreciation Day at LSU Football Practice
April 18 - National L-Club Spring Game
April 30-May 2 - NFL Draft in Chicago, Ill.
