Man, wife and dog found dead in apparent murder-suicide
LABADIEVILLE - Sheriff's deputies in Assumption Parish are investigating a possible murder-suicide that happened Tuesday in Labadieville.
Deputies say they received a call from a Thibodaux business looking to check on the welfare of an employee who did not show up for work. Responding officers went to a home on Hwy 308 in Labadieville to find the bodies of 42-year-old Jamie Bourgeois, his wife 41-year-old Leigh Bourgeois and their pet dog.
The Assumption Parish Sheriff's Office says the couple appears to have died as the result of gunshot wounds, but the bodies have been taken to the Orleans Parish Coroner's Office for a full and complete autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. The autopsy is scheduled to be performed Thursday morning.
Detectives say the investigation into the apparent murder-suicide is ongoing, and they urged anyone with information to contact the APSO Criminal Investigative Division at (985) 526-1627.
