METAIRIE - A man shot and killed a doctor at his office next to East Jefferson General Hospital and then went to a nearby Wendy's restaurant and shot himself, according to reports.

Gerry Cvitanovich, the Jefferson Parish Coroner, said the situation is a "murder-suicide" and that both victims were men. According to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office the doctor killed was Dr. Elbert Goodier.

The perpetrator shot Goodier in his office, which is attached to East Jefferson Hospital before walking to the Wendy's.
