Man killed, a second injured in Livingston Parish crash
DENHAM SPRINGS - A Walker man was killed and a second passenger injured in a crash in Livingston Parish late Monday night, Louisiana State Police say.
Garrett Minard, 21, died in the single-car accident on LA Hwy 1019, east of LA Hwy 16. Crash investigators say he was driving eastbound when he failed to negotiate a turn, causing the vehicle to roll over several times before coming to a stop in a ditch.
Troopers determined Minard was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash and believe impairment may have been a factor. They are awaiting the results of a toxicology analysis submitted to the LSP Crime Lab.
State Police say A 22-year-old male passenger also was not buckled-up at the time of the crash. He was brought to a local hospital with "moderate injuries". His condition and identity are unknown at the time of this post.
