Man dies in hospital after child finds him unconscious in pool Tuesday
BATON ROUGE - Authorities say a man is dead after his child found him unconscious in a backyard swimming pool Tuesday night.
The incident was reported around 7 p.m. in the 3000 block of Tezcucco Drive. Police say a child discovered his/her father unconscious in a pool. The child notified a neighbor, who called 911, and the man was taken from the scene in critical condition.
On Wednesday, police confirmed the victim had died overnight. The East Baton Rouge Coroner's Office has identified the man as 31-year-old Yun Tao Liu.
The incident marks the second drowning in Baton Rouge over the course of just a few weeks. On April 10, a child drowned at another suburban home in Goodwood.
The death is still under investigation. BRPD says foul play is not suspected.
