PHOENIX, ARIZONA- A man on a sidewalk pushed his wife to safety as a car careened toward them and he was hit and killed.

Juan Mena-Brito was hit by the car after it collided with another vehicle in an intersection. Witnesses say Mena-Brito pushed his wife out of the oncoming car before it struck her, likely saving her life.

A second person walking on the sidewalk had minor injuries.

Police are still investigating why the crash happened but say speed nor impairment appear to be factors.
