BATON ROUGE- A man spent the Christmas holiday in jail after he allegedly tried to run over police officers after being found sleeping in a car with a marijuana cigarette in his mouth.

According to arrest documents, Leandrew Thomas, 30, was uncooperative throughout this interaction with officers on Wyandotte Street and then again on Joseph Street on Christmas Eve. Officers said they initially happened upon Thomas on Wyandotte when someone reported him sleeping in a car.

When he was awoken by an officer knocking on the glass, officers said Thomas put his vehicle in reverse, nearly hitting several responding officers. According to jail booking information, Thomas drove recklessly away from them and eventually stopped on Joseph.

Officers said they had to tase Thomas before arresting him on a list of charges including aggravated assault with a motor vehicle upon a peace officer.

Thomas remains in jail with no bond.
