LSU hoops gets back on track with 78-57 win
Keith Hornsby scored 14 points, and Ben Simmons had 11 points and 12 rebounds to help LSU defeat Gardner-Webb 78-57 on Wednesday night.
Antonio Blakeney added 11 points, Aaron Epps had 10 points and 11 rebounds, and Craig Victor came off the bench to score 10.
The 57 points allowed by LSU (5-4) were its fewest of the season.
Harold McBride was the lone double-figure scorer for Gardner-Webb (4-7) with 19 points. The Bulldogs shot just 33 percent from the field (19 of 57) while scoring their fewest points of the season.
LSU took a 42-23 lead into halftime with little scoring from either Simmons or Tim Quarterman. Simmons, who played just ten minutes because of foul trouble, had two points. Quarterman's only points came on a 3-point play with six seconds left before halftime.
