BATON ROUGE - LSU came in at the No. 2 position in the 2015 Baseball America preseason poll released Monday afternoon, giving the Tigers their second Top 4 ranking among teams in the nation as they rank No. 4 in the Collegiate Baseball newspaper preseason poll released at the end of 2014.

Tiger Baseball, who lead the nation with 150 wins over the past three seasons, were the No. 8 National Seed in the 2014 NCAA Tournament and won the SEC Tournament for the fifth time in seven years.

Other SEC teams appearing in the preseason Top 10 include No. 1 Vanderbilt and No. 6 Florida. South Carolina and Mississippi State appear in the Top 25, and early LSU opponent Houston ranks No. 3 in the Baseball America poll.

LSU will open their 2015 campaign on Friday, Feb. 13 against Kansas in Alex Box Stadium at 7 p.m.

The 2015 Tiger roster is packed with 20 lettermen and includes 11 position players with starting experience. Rounding out their seasoned staff are eight pitchers that have completed innings for the team. The LSU veterans will be joined by a class of 11 newcomers that rated No. 1 in the nation last fall by Collegiate Baseball, Perfect Game and Baseball America in their annual recruitment rankings.
