LSP: Person hit, killed while pushing shopping cart across road
GONZALES - Louisiana State Police said they're looking into the death of a man who was hit by a vehicle and killed while crossing an Ascension Parish highway.
Troopers said the man was pushing a shopping cart across Airline Highway south of LA 74 around 8 p.m. Thursday when he was hit by an SUV and killed.
Investigators said the driver of the SUV was not suspected of being impaired and had minor injuries. He was not cited for the crash.
Troopers said they're waiting on toxicology tests to come back to see if the victim was impaired at the time of the crash. His name is not being released until his family has been notified.
