LPSO: Deputy shot, killed armed man
ALBANY - Sheriff's deputies in Livingston Parish shot and killed an armed man Wednesday afternoon, according to the LPSO.
A sheriff's office spokesperson said the officer-involved shooting happened just after 3 p.m. in the 31000 block of Old Baton Rouge Highway.
Deputies said they were called to the location on reports of an armed man attempting suicide. When they arrived, deputies said they demanded the man drop his gun.
The deputies said despite repeated commands, the man turned his gun toward them and they were forced to shoot him due to the imminent threat. The coroner declared the man dead at the scene.
State police were called in to handle the investigation into the shooting.
