BATON ROUGE - The outbreak of novel coronavirus in Baton Rouge has resulted in unimaginable heartache, but amid the catastrophe left in its wake, some of Baton Rouge's residents are empowering others by finding ways to increase their hope or to simply make them smile.

You may have run into some inspirational signs throughout the Capital City because one local graphics company wanted to give back to the community amid COVID closures and concerns.

Rebel Graphix saw an opportunity to uplift and create when EBR Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome lifted a ban on posting signage.

Sales manager Mark Vincent says a lightbulb went off with the signage ordinance change, so the Rebel team began creating the elevating signs to place around town.

"It became a fun event to do with people in that, we would put these signs out in the dead of night. So, we didn't want people to know who was really doing them," Vincent said.

As a small hint, each sign was shaped like the Rebel Graphix logo and soon people figured it out.

Some of their signs say, "Haircuts coming soon," others read "Alexa, skip to May."

President of the company Lewis Roeling says it has been enjoyable to watch his employees and community come together during this difficult time.
