Lange, Walljasper get SEC freshman nods
BATON ROUGE - A pair of LSU freshman pitchers earned SEC honors after softball and baseball series this weekend.
Alex Lange and Allie Walljasper were both named Freshman of the Week for their performances against Kansas and during the Tiger Invitational.
Lange took out 15 of 19 Jayhawks batters in his Saturday debut with seven strikeouts. Before leaving in the fifth inning Lange allowed no runs and only two hits. The Tigers went on to sweep Kansas for the weekend.
Walljasper picked up two complete game wins and a save as the Tiger softball team swept all comers in the Tiger Invitational. The 6-2 right-handed pitcher from Manteca, Calif. allowed one run in 16 total innings and picked up 10 strikeouts.
LSU softball will resume Tuesday night when the Tigers host Louisiana Tech at 6 p.m. The No. 2 LSU baseball squad hits the field again at Alex Box Stadium Wednesday night against Nicholls starting at 6:30 p.m.
