On May 8, 1943, at approximately 10:10 a.m., Trooper James T. Brownfield collided with a stray cow while patrolling on his motorcycle north of Converse, LA.
On September 8, 1962, at 2:10 a.m., Trooper Rudolph H. Miller was struck and killed by a vehicle on U.S. 51 in Tangipahoa Parish.
On Thursday, December 4, 1975, just twelve minutes before completing another tour of duty, Sgt. Clarence J. Miller was killed in a two car collision on U.S. 171 in Sabine Parish.
On July 2, 1977, at 5:45 a.m., Trooper Donald C. Cleveland was shot and killed in the line of duty in the Lafayette area.
On April 20, 1982, Trooper Jean-Claude Crescionne was killed in a two vehicle accident in Pointe Coupee Parish.
On January 12, 2010, Senior Trooper Duane Dalton was killed in a two vehicle crash in Calcasieu Parish.
On October 9, 1933, a motorcycle accident in Vermilion Parish claimed the life of Highway Patrolman Frank David, Sr. Patrolman David attempted to signal the driver of a loaded rice truck to pull over and was struck by the truck.
On Friday, February 23, 1968, at 9:58 a.m., Lt. Joseph D. Ferris died as a result of a two car accident on LA 749 north of Opelousas.
On Sunday, April 19, 1942, Trooper Benton Finlay was struck and killed by a passing motorist in Baton Rouge.
On the morning of February 24, 1952, Trooper Ulis Floyd and his 25-year-old son were shot and killed in the front yard of their home in Tullos by men who Floyd had stopped for a traffic violation earlier.
During the late hours of October 30, 1968, Trooper Huey P. Grace died as a result of a traffic accident while pursuing a speeding vehicle in northwest Louisiana.
On May 29, 1995, at approximately 9:40 a.m., Master Trooper Stephen H. Gray was killed in a two vehicle accident in Calcasieu Parish while responding to a traffic crash.
On November 17, 1997, at 7:22 p.m., Sergeant George "Doug" Johnston was killed in a one vehicle accident in Ouachita Parish.
On February 5, 1983, Trooper William "Mike" Kees died as a result of a traffic accident that occurred during a pursuit in the Ruston area.
On August 9, 2011 DPS Corporal Johnny Kendall was killed in a three-car crash in Interstate 12 in Livingston Parish.
On June 30, 1998, Trooper Hung N. Le died from injuries sustained in a traffic crash that occurred on May 19, 1998, in Tangipahoa Parish.
Also to be added to a memorial Tuesday is the name of Patrolman Frank Brown, Jr. His death in 1934 when his motorcycle was struck by a vehicle attempting to pass a car in a curve was just recognized. There is no picture of Brown.
No picture was available of Highway Patrolman Geronimo C. Trevino who was killed on August 8th, 1932 in an automobile crash in New Orleans.
On Saturday, November 10, 1956, Trooper Wilmer L. Moody was killed and another trooper was injured in a four vehicle collision on U.S. 61 in New Orleans.
On Wednesday afternoon, May 13, 1936, Patrolman Victor A. Mossy was killed in a collision with a truck near Norco, Louisiana.
On Tuesday, November 20, 1956, Trooper James N. Pollard was struck by a car and killed on U.S. 71 north of Montgomery.
On the morning of July 21, 1982, Trooper Damon L. Robichaux had been recalled for duty to provide an escort. While leaving his home his revolver fell to the floor, discharging and striking him in the chest. He died approximately two hours later while undergoing surgery.
On Sunday, January 29, 1956, Sgt. Eli L. Smith sustained injuries in an automobile accident that culminated in his death on January 17, 1957, in Lake Charles.
To be added to the memorial Tuesday is Senior Trooper Steven J. Vincent who was shot and killed by a suspect in August in the Lake Charles area.
On Thursday, July 19, 1973, at 2:00 a.m. Trooper William C. Warrington was killed in a one car accident that occurred in East Baton Rouge Parish.
On Tuesday, April 17, 1973, Sgt. Lamon Weaver was killed in a one car accident on Louisiana Highway 1 in Rapides Parish.
Trooper John D. Williams died in 1942 from injuries sustained in the line of duty a few years earlier. He was injured while assisting with flood relief in Crowley.
Officer Neill A. Yarborough, Sr. had only been a State Highway Officer for a few months when he was shot and killed by a fugitive in Caddo Parish on January 25, 1925.
On March 24, 1958, at approximately 8:35 p.m., Trooper Francis C. Zinna was killed manning a roadblock in West Baton Rouge Parish.
BATON ROUGE - Tuesday, State Police will add two names to a memorial of State Troopers who have been killed in the line of duty.
Twenty-nine troopers have died while serving the people of Louisiana since the department formed in 1922. Tuesday, the names of Steven J. Vincent and Frank Brown, Jr., will be added to a memorial at the State Police Headquarters.
The ceremony is at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
