Kitts, Howard sentenced to life in murder-for-hire case
PORT ALLEN - A West Baton Rouge Parish judge formally sentenced Monique Kitts and Karl Howard Thursday to life in prison for killing Kitts' husband four years ago.
Kitts and Howard were convicted in connection with Corey Kitts' death last November, when he was found shot to death in the couple's Addis home.
Prosecutors said his wife was after his $500,000 life insurance policy, and hired Howard to shoot him.
The two faced a mandatory life sentence without the possibility of parole for her part in the scheme.
