"Kissing congressman" fades in 5th district
ALEXANDRIA - The "kissing congressman" will not make it to the runoff for his congressional seat.
With nearly all precincts reporting, Rep. Vance McAllister only pulled 11 percent of the vote in the 5th District race. Jamie Mayor (D) came out as the leader of the pack with 28 percent, and there's a neck-and-neck race for second between Ralph Abraham (R) and Zach Dasher (R), who are both pulling around 22 percent.
Dasher is the nephew of "Duck Dynasty" star Phil Roberts, who has appeared in numerous ads endorsing him.
The top two candidates will advance to a Dec. 6 runoff.
