Kenny Neal and the Southern Soul Blues Festival
BATON ROUGE- The Southern Soul Blues Festival is right around the corner. This morning Kenny Neal stopped by 2une In to give News 2's John Pastorek a sample of what you can expect to hear and see at the event.
Neal is one of the most famous blues musicians in the area. He's spent time traveling around the country, but now he's back in Louisiana playing the music he loves. He even spent some time traveling on tour with blues legend, BB King, who passed away earlier this month.
In his interview Neal talks about the influence that King had on him and his music, and he even plays a small sample of his tribute song to King.
"I enjoyed my time with him, and he told me ‘Kenny we need you here,'" said Neal. "But we lost a lot when we lost BB, because he laid the foundation for the younger guys like myself coming along."
The music that Kenny Neal loves is going to be celebrated at the 13th annual Southern Soul Blues Festival on Saturday, June 16th. It will be held from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the multi-purpose arena in Port Allen. You can find out the full list of people performing at the festival's website.
