Initial unemployment claims in Louisiana fall
BATON ROUGE - First-time claims for unemployment insurance in Louisiana for the week ending June 18 decreased from the previous week's total.
The state labor department figures released Friday show the initial claims fell to 2,822 from the previous week's total of 3,445. For the comparable week a year earlier, there were 2,731.
The four-week moving average, which is a less volatile measure of claims, decreased to 3,249 from the previous week's total of 3,335.
Continued unemployment claims claimed for the week ending June 18 increased to 26,898 compared to 26,234 in the previous week.
The four-week moving average for such claims increased to 25,023 from the previous week's average of 24,147.
