Independence woman killed in crash
ALBANY - State Police said a Livingston Parish woman died and another person was injured in a single-vehicle crash Tuesday morning.
Investigators said 49-year-old Peggy Perry of Independence died when her pickup ran off the road and overturned. A passenger with her was moderately injured.
LSP said the wreck happened around 7:30 a.m. while Perry was driving west on LA 442. State Police said for some reason she crossed the center line and ran off the left side of the road, flipping the truck.
Troopers said Perry was pronounced dead at the scene, while her passenger was rushed to the hospital. Investigators said they don't think Perry was impaired, but will run a toxicology test as part of their investigation.
