I-10 gridlock continues after morning wrecks
BATON ROUGE - An overturned 18-wheeler has caused heavy delays on I-10 West as the wreck closed an exit ramp and caused traffic to stack up beyond the I-10/12 split.
The late morning wreck involving the big rig happened at the LA-1 Port Allen exit ramp on I-10 West. As of 10:45 a.m., bumper-to-bumper traffic was stacked up starting on the Mississippi River Bridge and reaching out past Essen Lane.
The trouble continued throughout the morning and into the afternoon with more wrecks or stalled vehicles along the I-10 corridor through Baton Rouge. The off-ramp from the bridge onto LA 1 reopened at 12:45 p.m., but the Department of Transportation and Development said heavy traffic continued to be an issue between LA 415 and Bluebonnet on I-10 West.
