Gunman and guard dead in shooting at federal office near D.C.
SUITLAND, Md. - The suspected gunman in a shooting at the U.S. Census Bureau about ten miles outside Washington, D.C. was killed by police shortly after the attack.
A guard at the compound was shot, he died at a local hospital. WJLA, the ABC affiliate in the area, reported the gunman was killed by D.C. police following a chase.
The shooting Thursday was reported as an active shooter situation after it happened. The guard was shot at one of the entrances to the facility.
Thousands of people work at the office.
The FBI is part of the investigation.
WJLA said in a gunfire exchange with the gunman, an officer was shot in the leg.
