Grandfather murders family
BELL, Fla.- A grandfather killed his six grandchildren, the kids' mother who is also his daughter and then himself Thursday evening.
"Tomorrow is going to be a tough day," Gilchrist County Sheriff Robert Schultz said in a news conference hours after the bodies were discovered. Schultz said the children ranged in age from 3 months to 10 years old.
A deputy responded to a shooting in the area made contact with the gunman, Don Spirit, 51, who later committed suicide the Associated Press reported.
About 350 people live in the town 30 miles west of Gainesville.
