Gonzales FD respond to call from N. Airline Piccadilly
GONZALES - City of Gonzales Firefighters responded to a call from the Piccadilly Cafeteria on N. Airline Hwy Tuesday night.
Firefighters responded to the scene at around 8 p.m. to find a sprinkler head had opened and was spraying large amounts of water inside the restaurant. Investigators said the sprinkler head was located in a room containing the sprinkler system controls, two water heaters and the main electrical service for the restaurant.
Entergy was contacted as firefighters put out the fire, and all power to the building was disconnected.
The city inspector assessed damage to the property on Wednesday morning, and equipment was provided to aid in drying out the area so the cafeteria can reopened. The restaurant remains closed, but management has agreed to reopen the establishment as soon as possible.
