Funeral to be held Friday for key Central leader
BATON ROUGE - Citizens of Central will say their goodbyes Friday to a man who was a devoted community leader.
Celebration of life services for former pro tem mayor and City Councilman Ralph Washington will be held on Friday, Aug. 22 at Living Faith Cathedral at 6375 Winbourne Ave. Viewing will begin at 9 a.m. with services to follow at 11 a.m.
The burial will take place at Roselawn Cemetary located at 4045 North Blvd. with a gathering immediately afterwards at 14025 Greenwell Springs Rd.
Ralph Washington was pronounced dead on Aug. 16 at the age of 60. He was a devoted leader in the community of Central who played an instrumental role in the city's founding in 2005, served on City Council, and was mayor pro tem for nine years.
