Former BRFD captain no longer on the force
BATON ROUGE- The Baton Rouge Fire Department says former captain, Roman Bates, is considered absent without leave following his arrest in Orleans Parish.
Authorities arrested Bates in New Orleans on Tuesday for charges that he raped a child in Tennessee. Attorney General Buddy Caldwell said Bates is a fugitive from Shelby County, Tenn. for charges of rape of a child, sexual battery aggravated sexual battery, and aggravated statutory rape.
According to a press release, Bates is no longer an employee of the Baton Rouge Fire Department.
