BATON ROUGE - A driver managed to run and hide from State Police after a pursuit over the Mississippi River Wednesday night.

The unidentified driver got away after abandoning the vehicle on Airline Highway near Plank Road. State Police said Thursday, the driver was not apprehended.

The pursuit started near the Old Bridge on Highway 190 in West Baton Rouge when a trooper saw the vehicle swerve. The trooper tried to pull the vehicle over, but the driver sped to Baton Rouge.

No arrest was made, a State Police spokesperson said Thursday morning.

Earlier this week, a driver managed to escape authorities after a police chase through Baton Rouge. It ended at Farr Park where the driver ran into the nearby Riverbend neighborhood.
