IBERVILLE - Family members of a man facing murder charges took out their frustrations on a WBRZ photographer outside the Iberville Parish Courthouse Friday.

Iberville Parish Sheriff's deputies booked Josh Falcon and Brandon Martinez into parish jail for simple battery. The two men assaulted the photographer while he was getting video of Clint Martinez, who had just pleaded no contest to negligent homicide and aggravated criminal damage to property from a death in May 1998.

Martinez was sentenced to five years probation in the murder case of Leander "Lee" Johnson. Prosecutors say Martinez tied up Johnson and set him on fire while he was inside a Bayou Sorrel mobile home. Johnson's mother spoke out about the gruesome murder after the plea deal.

"They threw lighter fluid on him, doused him with lighter fluid and set him on fire. He was in his bed," said Adrina Moses. "It stays on my mind all the time, all the time. They're evil. How can anybody do a human being something that bad. It's awful."

Prosecutors say the enraged killing was fueled because Johnson began dating Martinez's estranged wife. Moses says Martinez then started to threaten her son before murdering him 17 years ago.

"They were going to get him one way or the other. He said he was going to kill him and burn his trailer down, and that's exactly what they did him," she said. "I hope he never forgets, and I pray every night when he lay his head on the pillow that he sees Lee's face every time."

Along with the five years probation Martinez must pay several fines. If he does not pay he will spend six months in jail.
