Ex-President Bush to commemorate Katrina in Gulfport
GULFPORT - Former President George W. Bush and former first lady Laura Bush will visit Gulfport on Aug. 28 to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina.
The announcement was made Thursday in a news release from the George W. Bush Presidential Center in Dallas.
The Bushes will attend a Mississippi Emergency Management Agency event honoring first responders.
The event is hosted by Gov. Phil Bryant and Mississippi first lady Deborah Bryant and former Gov. Haley Barbour and his wife, Marsha Barbour, and Katrina Remembrance Commission.
The event will take place at Barksdale Pavilion in Jones Park in Gulfport starting at 11 a.m.
