Edwin Edwards spending Thanksgiving in hospital: pneumonia
BATON ROUGE - Former Louisiana Gov. Edwin Edwards is spending Thanksgiving in the hospital.
Edwards' wife, Trina, says in a text message that her 88-year-old husband won't be discharged Thursday from a hospital where he's being treated for pneumonia.
But he won't have to eat hospital turkey. Trina Edwards says her mother is bringing turkey and trimmings for lunch, and his children and grandchildren also have been bringing food.
Trina Edwards confirmed Wednesday that her husband had been admitted. She didn't identify the hospital, but said in a Facebook post that he was already feeling much better.
Edwards, a Democrat, was governor from 1972 to 1980 and again from 1984 to 1996.
