EBR SALT Crime Expo
ZACHARY- Seniors will have the opportunity to learn about crime and how they can prevent it, at the Crime Prevention Expo. The event is being held later today by the Baton Rouge group SALT (Seniors and Law Enforcement Together).
Josh Hollins, the president of SALT, stopped by 2une In this morning to tell us more about the event.
"We want to see every senior in East Baton Rouge parish at this expo," said Hollins. "We want to make sure we reach out to everyone in the parish and give them the opportunity to get these great resources and tools."
The group's mission is to prevent crime before it even starts, and they do so by telling seniors to be vigilant and stay aware.
A lot of crimes committed by younger people target senior citizens, so the group is trying to educate older generations on what they should be on the lookout for.
SALT was able to pair with the Zachary police department and the mayor's office for this expo. Seniors will be able to talk to informed sources and get great information.
The event will also serve a catfish lunch and have a live DJ for entertainment.
The expo is being held today at 9 a.m. at 4200 Main St. In Zachary.
