Diocese lists Redemptorist High for lease, sale
BATON ROUGE - Redemptorist High School is on the market.
The Diocese of Baton Rouge is listing the campus for lease and selling its baseball field a few blocks away. The Catholic church is asking $23,853/ month for the school building and everything inside it plus use of the football stadium. But, the nearby baseball facilities are for sale for $750,000.
The diocese will continue to operate St. Gerard, the elementary school across from the shuttered high school facility, so the leased space can not be used as an elementary school campus, according to information posted on the online listing.
In December, the diocese announced it was closing the junior and high school campus of Redemptorist at the end of the school year. Bishop Robert Muench said there were not enough students to keep it open. Recently, the Vatican announced its support for closing the school.
