Cool Schools: Northside Elementary
BATON ROUGE- Students at Northside Elementary in Livingston Parish are showcasing their artistic abilities at the school's sixth annual Spring Art Show. This year the show's theme is Louisiana.
The art show gives students an outlet from the busy testing schedule that comes at the end of the year.
"The latter part of the spring, especially this year, our 3rd and 5th grade students have taken three state standardized tests in the past two months," said Whitney Starns, a 3rd grade teacher. "This is sort of an outlet for them."
The winner's projects are auctioned off to the highest bidder. Some of the art has gone for as much as $100. Every year over 200 people attend the event. Students painted everything from Fleur De Lis to the Mardi Gras food pyramid.
We salute you, students at Northside Elementary, for being a really cool and artistic school!
