BATON ROUGE - Domenick Carlini pitched six strong innings to make a three-run first stand up and Southeastern Louisiana edged Utah Valley 3-2 in an elimination game in the NCAA Tournament's Baton Rouge Regional on Sunday.
Southeastern Louisiana (40-20) will face Sunday evening's LSU-Rice loser on Monday in another elimination game. The Baton Rouge Regional was washed out on Saturday, pushing the schedule back a day.
Carlini gave up just two hits and two walks over six innings, allowing two runs - one earned - and striking out four. Josh Green finished up, allowing one hit over three innings for the save.
With one out in the first, Brennan Breaud singled and stole second. Jameson Fisher walked, and then Breaud scored on a wild pitch. Drew Avans plated Fisher with a single, and Avans later scored on a throwing error on a ground ball.
Jackson Cofer was the hard-luck loser, allowing four hits over 7 1/3 innings.
