BPRD: Woman left kids alone to move stolen fridge
BATON ROUGE - Police said a Baton Rouge woman turned herself in Tuesday after she left her children home alone to move furniture.
Authorities said they brought Candis Burton, 26, in for questioning while investigating accusations of child desertion and theft.
Detectives said Burton admitted she left her two-year-old son and six-year-old daughter at home alone after midnight Tuesday for more than three hours. She told police she went to move some furniture, including a stolen refrigerator which investigators said was later returned.
BRPD booked Burton into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on one count of child desertion and one count of theft over $200.
