A statement from the water company reads as follows:
French Settlement Water Company operates 16 public water supplies, 5 in Tangipahoa Parish and 11 in Livingston Parish. Flooding is widespread in these parishes and we do not want to put our employees in harms way. Consequently, we will not be able to obtain daily chlorine residuals, as required by the Emergency Rule for disinfection. We would like to issue a PRECAUTIONARY boil water advisory for our systems until the flood waters recede and we can safely get to our systems for testing.
A boil order also remains in effect in St. Helena Parish. Check back with this story for updates on further boil advisories as they go into effect.
