NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Authorities say they've recovered the body of a swimmer who went missing in Lake Ponchartrain.

The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office says the body was found Sunday evening in the lake near Fontainebleau State Park. Sheriff's officials say the swimmer was reported missing earlier Sunday and last seen near the Fontainebleau State Park Fishing Pier.

His body was found about 500 yards west of the pier, where the water was about seven feet deep.

According to WGNO, the person has been identified as 23-year-old Luis Landaverde.

An autopsy was pending at the St. Tammany Parish Coroner's Office.
