Body connected to Texas missing person case found in Pointe Coupee Parish
POINTE COUPEE PARISH - Authorities believe a body found near a highway in Pointe Coupee Parish is connected to a missing person case out of Texas.
The Pointe Coupee Coroner's Office confirmed the body was found Sunday off Highway 190 near Highway 975, in the area of the Atchafalaya River. The body, which appears to be that of a woman, has been taken to the LSU FACES Lab for analysis.
KHOU reports the body is likely connected to the disappearance of 41-year-old Adriana Perez. Perez was reported missing from Southwest Houston on Oct. 3.
The report goes on to cite a neighbor saying Perez's husband and two older children were at the home as recently as last Wednesday and claimed they were moving out. Perez's husband has reportedly been detained in London.
The coroner's office also confirmed the FBI is involved with the investigation, along with Houston police, due to the case crossing state lines.
Houston PD said the investigation is "sensitive" and little information is being released at this time.
