Bishop, area Catholics to celebrate milestone Sunday
BATON ROUGE - The Catholic Diocese will celebrate the milestone of its local leader Sunday, the church said in a news release late Thursday night.
Bishop Robert Muench has been a significant church leader for 25 years. There will be a Mass to commemorate the milestone at 10 a.m. Sunday at the Cathedral downtown.
"As he reflects on a quarter century of memories, Bishop Muench said what he has found most rewarding is the privilege of being able to celebrate the Chrism Mass, ordination, Holy Week events, confirmation and the Diocesan Golden Jubilee Mass," a spokesperson said.
"He enjoys celebrating the sacraments as well as working side by side with other bishops, priests, deacons, consecrated religious, lay faithful for the cause of Christ, the church and community."
